So here we are at the end of December

What a great time to reflect and remember.

Looking back at the year that’s just done

We wince at mistakes…and smile when we won.

Then looking on, to the year that is new

We think about new things we won’t or will do.

Resolving to do a lot better this year,

We vow to face life with more faith and less fear.

Of course no one knows what the future will see

But we do know a few things that always will be

Some things, of course, we know will keep going

Weeds, kids and taxes, of course, will keep growing

Great things will happen and winds will keep blowing

Dumb things will happen and rivers keep flowing 

In big ways and little, people will strive.

Nations will battle and love will change lives. 

Looking back at the year that just past,

One thing is certain, the next will go fast.

So do your work well, but make time to play

Pray without ceasing and love every day.
