Wyoming 2-1-1 to help with aid dispersal

CHEYENNE – Through a generous grant award of $15,000 made possible by the Tony Cate Fund, the Grace Amspoker Fund, and the LEK Endowment Fund of the Wyoming Community Foundation, Wyoming 2-1-1 will be able to further expand public awareness about its services across Wyoming and have support for general operations.

Wyoming 2-1-1 is a statewide provider of information and referral services. Since Wyoming 2-1-1 opened its doors in 2011, it has handled over 38,000 inquiries for help. 2-1-1 is a free, confidential and multilingual service available to all residents across Wyoming. Wyoming 2-1-1 connects individuals to over 2,500 programs across Wyoming. Services such as shelter, food, physical and mental health resources, employment support services, programs for children, youth and families, support for veterans, seniors and persons with disabilities, and support for community crisis and disaster recovery can all be found in their database. To find resources, individuals can either dial 2-1-1 and speak with a Community Resource Specialist, they can text their zip code to 898-211, or they can visit their website at wyoming211.org and use the guided search for services in their community.

“It cannot be overstated that Wyoming 2-1-1’s impact over the course of 2020 was invaluable,” says Wyoming 2-1-1 Executive Director, Sabrina Lane. “As the COVID-19 pandemic bore down on Wyoming, Wyoming 2-1-1 call specialists responded by providing vital information and real time answers to thousands of individuals throughout the state seeking information about the disease and it’s resulting impacts.” Even with the significant increase in calls in 2020, Wyoming 2-1-1 still recognizes the tremendous need to increase public awareness and is very grateful to the Wyoming Community Foundation Statewide Board and the WYCF Casper Area Local Board for the support and understanding the importance of public awareness of the service.

To learn more about Wyoming 2-1-1 or to donate, visit wyoming211.org or contact Sabrina Lane at 307-433-3076 or manager@wyoming211.org.

In a crisis, in a disaster, in a pandemic, Wyoming 2-1-1 is here to help every person in every community get connected to available resources for finding food, paying housing bills and connecting to other essential services.

The Wyoming Community Foundation is a nonprofit organization that works with donors to support the charitable causes they care most about. In 2020 the Wyoming Community Foundation granted $7.7 million to charitable causes across the state.
